Holiday Baking

On Saturday afternoon we did our holiday baking. This year we focused mostly on easy kid items and on getting them to the boys friends first. The big tins of cookies to neighbors and adult friends may be in the past. So, for kid friendly we did pretzels dipped in chocolate and then covered with sprinkles, candy molds and some sugar cookies.  By time the boys had covered their friends at church and Monday coop we had a full bag. We'll still have to do another round to finish things out I think.

Nicholas was eager to help out.

Preparing the candy molds

You can enjoy Nathan's face from here on out.  Ben mastered the cookie scoop very quickly.

Too much fun.

Nicholas had a hard time with the scoop. I had to reform all his balls when he wasn't looking.

Dipping pretzels and adding sprinkles. This was by far the easiest, kid friendly idea I've had in a long time. Especially since Daddy did it!

Hard at work.

Next it was time to decorate our bags to distribute the sweets in.

I can't post the next round of photos because they were making Christmas presents for Nana and Papa. Sorry - no peeking before Christmas :-)
In other news, we purchased an electric fireplace for the basement as Mommy is sick of being cold during school and the woodstove down there is just one more thing for her to deal with. I must say, the Styrofoam pieces in that box were insane. They stuck to everything. Sam and I were both covered.... as was Nathan.

Watching Daddy assembly. So I have to mention, we bought this at a major discount - over half off. Well, we realized why when we got it home. Who ever did the little assembly it had at the plant put the pieces on upside down. Thank goodness I have Sammy. He was able to unscrew it and remove the glue and re-assembly. I think it was worth saving $300. As he stated, there is a reason why we saved that much money :-)

Final Product

Nicholas missed all the fun.

That rounds out Friday and Saturday! Today is full dress rehearsal for the Christmas pageant. Should be interesting!
