Well, we didn't get the massive storm they were calling for, but it was very strange to see snow falling in October. The boys were so excited and very let down when we didn't get very much here at the house. Just a quick drive through Jefferson 5miles away and they had 3"+ on the ground. Just that bit of elevation change was all it took. Saturday was a busy day for us as a friend got a buck Friday night and dropped it off and the phone was ringing like crazy for firewood deliveries. Poor Sam!
The deer was one of the biggest I think we have gotten. Sam brought up two huge bowls and was like, that's just the front legs! Here is my freezer pre-packaging and grinding The yellow bowl is venison too:
Ben helped Sam butcher the deer. He yelled up "Mom - I'm doing science class!". They learned about what a rib cage does and muscles and tendons. Ah, the ways one can home educate.
It was great snowball weather and the best snow was on the vehicles.
On Sunday Nathan sang in church, went to a birthday party and then we all headed to a fall festival at the church our coop is held at.
My church photo didn't come out very well, but Nathan is in the very front in a white long sleeve shirt. To the left of the candle on the right.
Festival and Halloween photos will be put on the next post.
