We planned to do his cake and presents when Aunt Suzy arrives on Thursday, but on Saturday night (the 2nd) I felt a lot of guilt that I had nothing special for him to eat. So Sunday night our friends the Beers were over and I decided to make a caterpillar cake. It worked out well with each child decorating their section of the caterpillar and then we assembled it for Nicholas- it especially helped that the Beer's family had 4 age appropriate kids for decorating :-). I think it turned out quite cute. Nathan's is the second in line, you can't tell but it is only half a cake. He ate half while I was distracted helping the other children. Sigh. Ben's is the one with blue frosting w/ yellow sprinkles.
The following weekend Susan came to visit and we did his presents. He really like everything. He received a farm tractor w/ animals from Nana and Papa (He can even load the animals), a train ride on from Mammy and Gramps, and a really fun mirror with lights and sounds / music from his Aunts. He had a great day!
I don't have pictures as I was running the DVD camcorder and apparently I cannot multi-task in the electronics department. So here are just a few fun ones from the past week.
Nicholas' Caterpillar cake.
Going for a spin.
The Radio Flyer wagon goes a little too fast for him to push, but he loves to be pushed in it. He will climb in and squeal which we have learned translates to "Ben, give me a ride!"
Big boy sitting at the table - no more separate high chair!
Bath Time
Sadly this toy is broke and doesn't do anything, but it can still be pushed.
Helping Mom cook. I was at the stove and he got a hold of the cornstarch in my baking cabinet. At least the cover stayed on the molasses. Thank Goodness! This cabinet now has a child lock.
In other news, Ben made the transition to the next level bike. It is a little big but he is very close to being the right size and it was free! He'll be in it by spring.
