Blizzard of 2010

As you all know, we have a little bit of snow. The first storm dumped 27" in less than two days. Then 3 days later we received another 16" in a major blizzard. It has been over a week and roads are still not plowed and school is still out. It is the craziest thing. I took so many pictures, I tried to pick out a few good ones. I also have a half hour of DVD footage of the kids playing in the snow. Ben and Nicholas LOVE it. Nathan is still a little not sure but is liking it more and more each day.

STORM #1
Has it started yet??
Nicholas was our weather man.

The next morning we started to dig out. We had recieved about a foot of snow, little did we know that we would get 27" by dinner time.

The boys had fun playing that day. It was warm and the snow was heavy and sticky. Good sledding weather too! We moved the vehicles and let them sled down the driveway. I'd like to note the big banks in our driveway are not from a plow, but from Sam using the snow scoop to PUSH the snow. He was pretty tired.

Nope, not the woods. This is taken from me standing on the back porch by the door looking down to the driveway. That is how high Sam pushed the snow! This was Ben's first time on snowshoes.

Nathan did not want to sled, but he had fun pushing Ben down the hill.

Then it was time to start digging out before the next storm hit.

The second storm was horrible. Blizzard / white out conditions. Bitter cold so we were stuck inside for 3 days. Just to show how bad the gust were, here is our COVERED porch. All roads were closed in the state for 2 days. There were 12' snow drifts on the main highway from our house to the city. It took Sam 2hrs to get home from Frederick (which is a 12mile drive). He had been out for 2 days running a bobcat.

A few days later it was time to start removing iceicles from our roof and find our front door.
This is our new snow removal process.

Pictures just do not capture at all what this storm looked like, but I'll put some anyway. I look at these and think, that doesn't look so bad - but it was. Our house was not as bad as a block down the road as our Neighbor brought home a big John Deere tractor w/ plow and cleaned the street up.
