Nathan has a new love - hockey. Spent our weekend buying skates, having them baked (yes, baked to mold to his foot - a nice hr long process with a 6yr old) and trying on equipment at the rink. Oy - I thought soccer was a lot of work?
I will say watching 5 & 6yr olds play hockey is probably the most entertaining thing I had done all week. There is always somebody falling down. They will just be standing there and 'thump' there goes another. All the parents were just busted up laughing outside the rink. Poor kids. I was tired and sore for them after the two hours! How Nathan didn't get frustrated was beyond me.
The hardest thing was that it was the first time many of them had been on hockey skates. VERY different from figure skates. They kept trying to find the toe pick to help them get up. The hockey coach spoke to Nathans skating instructor to ensure he can wear his hockey skates to lessons so hopefully that will help.
As you can see he was the only one without a hockey jersey. So Papa - if you get to the UMaine store and see a youth hockey jersey - Nathan would be a very happy boy :-) (And you'll have a major hole in your wallet I'm sure)
He did get a practice jersey and socks after the first practice and was insistent that it be washed immediately even though I had several days.
