Ah - than annual Mother's Day post. Once again, it was the Boy's Only Camping Trip weekend. I must say I was quite sad to see them go. While I did get a tremendous amount done on Friday and Saturday - it is very different from before. Years prior it was 'sleep all weekend' for me. That was when I had little's and nobody slept at night. This year was 'how many errands can I run' weekend. Not much fun.
All started well. Here are a few photos from Sam's 1st day camping.
Setting up camp.
Ben's favorite thing to do - whittle!
Fishing excursion - and brotherly love :-)
Not sure who the 'cool kid' is in the back. Sigh, he is growing up!
If you look close you'll see a water line on Nicholas' back. The only I was told was that he fell in. End of story.......why do I think there might be more to it?
So, this is where the fun stopped. When leaving the fishing spot Sam lost the brakes in his truck (faulty brake line). Now for those of you that know us very well, you know we are not cell phone folk. I don't even carry mine. The funny thing is at about 3:00 I was leaving to get groceries in Frederick and it was raining. I thought, what if they come home tonight? So I turned around and put the sheets in the dryer for their beds. I also started wondering where my cell phone was. I couldn't find it quickly and didn't really worry so I left. About 10mins later my husband began calling the home and cell number every 10 mins for the next 3 hours. They couldn't find a tow truck to fit the kids in. LOOONNNGGG story short, they made it home (highly illegal, but safe) and I came home at around 8pm to quite the surprise. Racked with guilt and bad mom vibes from not being there to help caused a stressful evening. Sunday am Sam had to go borrow a truck and head back to the campsite to pack up and get the camper. Next we went and bought a washer (blah) and brought Ben to Urgent Care for an infected toe nail. Needless to say -crappy weekend all around!
I was saying it was the worst one ever when Sam reminded me of Mother's Day 6 years ago when I spent the night in the Hospital waiting room 38 weeks pregnant while Sam had an emergency appendectomy. Well - if I'm on a six year cycle we are skipping it in 2019!!!
