Day Hike

Nathan has been begging me to go for another hike. I had originally planned on doing a 6.3 mile hike with Ben. Ben then informed me he didn't want to go. Nathan jumped all over it. I changed the trip to be a 5.3 mile hike from Keys Gap VA to Harper's Ferry WV. I was a bit nervous as it was a long hike. Well, Nathan and I knocked it out in under 3hrs and he wanted to go more! The kid is a machine. He kept a really good pace. Can't wait to plan some more!

A quick snack break

The massive descend down the blue ridge mountains. Next time we'll go up it. It was a very tough climb. I had chosen to do the way that would descend it as I wasn't sure how bad it was going to be. It was pretty steep.

Happy to run after rocky footing

These are the stairs to go below 340 and under the bridge. The walk across the Shenandoah River on the 340 bridge ended up being the most exciting part for Nathan.

And I just want to not, I will NEVER hike this section again. It was AWFUL. All small pointed rocks and very hard to follow. My feet are very sore today. I told Nathan it was a big adventure and that kept him happy. If he wouldn't have been there I would have been very grumpy!

The trip went so fast we ended up eating lunch at home!
