Two nights ago we had our first meal from the greenhouse consisting of salad greens. As I continue to learn and try new things I'm sure the table will have more products. It is a whole new ball game and being 'green' to this type of growing, I have lots to learn!
Still a shock to open the door when it is 50degrees out and be greeted by warmth! I'm sure it will be even more of a shock when there is snow on the ground!
Our first batch is on the left. Today I transplanted another round of broccoli and put in the first batch of root crops now that the temp has dropped - carrots, onion and turnip. Lettuce seedlings are still under the grow light in the house.
Our first round of planting indeed has been successful. Luckily it was late September so the local markets had lettuce and broccoli plants very cheap to get rid of them. I wish we would have purchased more!! It was nice to not have to wait so long from seed.
Our romaine lettuce was DELICIOUS and we are quite said to have only 3 heads remaining and very tiny seedlings in process. Looks like several months till we experience fresh salad again. Can't wait to have salads with Mammy and Gramps this week!
Nicholas LOVES working in the greenhouse - he just begs to plant. I think I have a future gardener in him. Here his prepping the soil for the carrot and turnip seeds.
Now we wait patiently for it all to grow!
I don't believe we posted a finished (well almost) treehouse picture. Just need to put the roof on - maybe next weekend...
