Cronkite Family Cronicles: Still Undefeated

Ben had a tough soccer game this weekend. His team is undefeated with a 35-7 spread in 3 games. They played another undefeated team with a 15-2 spread in 2 games. It was very exciting game that included penalty kicks - and re-do penalty kicks due to goalies coming out too far.

With 2mins left in the game it was tied 3-3. Ben got the ball, did amazing moves to get around 3 defenders in a row, lined up to the goal - and at this point we were all going crazy including his coach - and the ball hit a bump and bounced so when he took the shot the ball was elevated making it a total toe ball and over the goal. He just fell to the ground and didn't move. He as so bummed! Had it not bounced, I know he would have had it. Shortly there after another player on his team shot and the goalie had it, the ball spun and fell out of his hands and went through is legs. Not the way we wanted to win such an amazing game, but oh well - still undefeated!

Sam said that we (myself and other parents) were jumping up and down during the whole thing that he thought the ez-up we were under was going to knock over! He came out right after the shot (the sub had already been stationed) and we saw his coach grab him with smiles and say something very animated to him. Ben later said his coach was saying how amazing the whole thing was and how good he did with his moves and getting past the defenders. He has come a very long way.
