An ADVENTUROUS Weekend

Oh my what a week I have had.
The plan was to leave on Thursday for a long camping trip to celebrate Nathan's 6th birthday. It was full of adventurous moments!

All started on Wednesday. The boys and I ran some errands which included picking up 112 hot dog buns for the party on Saturday (yes, you read the number correct).  When we returned home I checked the weather radar due to the major storm system we were (suppose) to get.  When it looked not so good for Brunswick on Thursday, I decided we should go get ice at the store for the trip before it was sold out. So, out the door we went again. When we returned I found that a drawer in front of the back door had popped open, thus locking us out. What do you do? I have no photo of me holding the AC unit out of the window as Ben climbed in - though I'm sure it was a Kodak moment and the dogs were not impressed with the intrusion. Upon entering the house we found that the dogs had enjoyed a snack of.......112 hot dog buns.  Sigh. Phone call to Daddy for another trip to Costco to re-purchase.
The night continued a bit crazy - had to make his cake so I could freeze it and was afraid we'd lose power. I made a huge cake which required two batches of frosting - not realized until 11:00pm that night when I was half done frosting it - OH and all remaining butter was frozen.  Cake was completed in the wee early morning hours of Thursday.

Weather moved by and we headed out Thursday afternoon.  I should note the dogs had been suffering sever tummy aches from their dining choice. We headed out to the campsite. upon arrival I left the dogs in the van while we set up.  When I returned I found that hey were feeling better - and a massive case of diarrhea had hit my van - car seats, ceiling, upholstery, stow and go - all covered.  Sigh again......

Friday dawned sunny and we headed out that morning. Returned to pack a lunch to hit the beach only to find .....the dogs had popped open a cooler and EATEN ALL THE BREAD.  I think the fiber level in their diet is adequate at this point......

Overall - it was an amazing weekend. On Saturday we had 14 families at the beach and had a blast. 10 hours of sun, water and playing with friends made for some pretty tired boys on Sunday. We are just recovering!

Ready for a hike with his new pack from Mom and Dad

Mommy executing a dare from Daddy ( I made it just fine!)

Not my best cake every but it survived dogs, freezing and transportation to the lake!

Opening his presents the next morning.

I think the boys will be well armed for awhile. Big party = lots of thanks you cards. Working on them slowly....
