This year I decided to let the boys have some control over planting the garden. I had marked spots to put the plants (allowing proper spacing) and then let them go. They didn't exactly hit the spots I marked, but I didn't want to go and say that it was all wrong as they were so excited. My thought was, what is the worst that could happen????
...................Well, we found out. Here are the tomato plants - or bush?
This year our watermelon and cantaloupe look so much better. We didn't get much for growth last year and most folk I talked to were in the same boat.
Sam has been hard at work fixing his boat. He re-did the varnish and had to 'modify' the seating arrangement due to our family size. Apparently he didn't plan ahead 9 years ago.
Sam also thinks he came up with a new way to move he boat and trailer form the garage to the shed. As most of you know, it is quite a hill and it is a heavy load. So, Sam and his friend built a hitch for his lawnmower (we have a new self propelled walk behind model) and 'rednecktafide' a moving apparatus. He tried it out today.
Some help loading it on the trailer
Time to see if it worked
Success!
We tried to stay ahead of the heat this morning and I worked on weeding the garden, harvesting what remained of our spinach and broccoli and planted a second rotation of some veggies. Another great shot of the tomato forest.
