We have started out with a two week Ornithology Unit Study. Only two weeks you think. Well, let me tell you from experience - if you make it too long they get very bored! We'll save the big ones for when they are older :-) The two week study is part of our 'Attentiveness' Character Study. I hope to post his final project photos and to blog more about our school activities and crafts.
Today we went to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve to observe the birds. I didn't have my camera out for that as we were talking about everything and collecting feathers. We did go to the Animal Encounters demonstration and the boys were able to pet a chinchilla (not shown), snake and alligator. They had a blast. Tomorrow we'll work on our lapbooks to update what we did today and what we have learned about feathers.
Ben doesn't look so excited about the petting activities!
Python:
American Alligator (Nathan's favorite animal) Nicholas wouldn't touch this one and if you look close in the bottom left hand corner, you'll see him shying away from it.
In other news, Nathan had his first soccer practice on Monday. Here is his typically cheesy smile for me. I must say, as I was tying his shoes, I had this wave of, well, I don't know what it was. I couldn't believe how grown up he seemed all of a sudden. It completely caught me off guard.
Waiting for practice.Nicholas was ready to go. It was very difficult to get him off the field. He even jumped in and played pass with them. Future star??
