This Mother's Day weekend once again marked the tradition of the boy's only camping trip. This year was special because Nicholas was able to attend, so I had the house to myself. I got home from work at 3pm on Friday and by noon Saturday I was ready for my family to return. It was very quite and lonely. I played lots of piano and watched lots of movies, but after getting 12 hours of sleep (which by the way was AWESOME)I was rested, refreshed and ready for my boys. Sam and the boys arrived home on Sunday morning around 10:00am. I found myself pacing, looking out the window and calling Sam on his cell the hour up to their arrival home. When they arrived home, they entered the house one at a time, oldest to youngest, each with a bouquet of hand picked flowers for me. Yes, there were tears. Besides the fact that these flowers were probably illegal since they were picked at a National Park campground (Ignore that Kevin) it was perfect. Within 5 minutes, all was back to normal. Kids requesting a snack, diapers to change, lunch to be made, naps, laundry, fussing, dishes, etc. I realized that night as I fell into bed what my life really is as a Mom. It is all I listed above. It is catering every minute to a little persons needs and trying to find the energy and emotion to give my husband the love and caring he needs at the end of the day. Ah Motherhood. Well, here are some photos from the boys trip.
Sam only took a few photos, but this short video is the best. Nicholas was so tired after dinner that he couldn't even wait for Sam to put him to bed. He decided he would nap in the chair.
