Half a Decade Later

Happy Birthday Ben!! Can you believe that Ben is 5 years old today? Where does the time go? We actually celebrated last weekend since Sam's parents were in town. For their birthday, the boys get to spend a day alone with Sam and I and get to choose what we do. We chose for him last year, but this year he remembered and was very excited about his alone day with Mom and Dad. Ben wanted to visit the Air and Space Museum and then go play games at Chucke Cheeses. Sigh. So Saturday morning a very excited Ben, Sam and I packed up to head to the Dulles museum. We did a quick stop to get shin guards and socks for soccer (which starts March 15th) and then hit the museum. We got lucky and it was family and friends day so they had a ton of exhibits and interactive 'Discovery' stations. He got to touch / play with a real astronaut suit, learned about what happens to out bodies and blood when we go to outer space, etc. We also went and saw an IMAX movie and watching him was more exciting than the movie. At one point we were flying over a city and Ben was like, are we moving? I'm dizzy. It was sorta funny. You'll have to take my word for it as I left the camera in the car (SORRY!!). But I did get a camera phone photo of him landing an airplane on a simulator. Our trip to CC was not so much fun. We learned quickly that if there isn't a parking place in the entire lot, don't go in! I have never seen it that bad before. Insane. I had a bag of left over coins from his last birthday and we played those and he seemed happy with that. We were able to limit our visit to about 1/2hr.

After this we went home and had pizza, cake and presents with his brothers and grandparents. I DO have photos (and video) of this.

And on a very happy note I'd like to take this time to welcome Mia Alexis Buescher into the world - born this morning at 7:47am! How exciting that she shares Ben's birthday!!! Welcome Mia and congrats to Geoffrey and Heather. I had the opportunity to met her today and she is a cutie.
